In some cases Periodontal (Gum) Disease cannot be treated by your hygienist and in order to stabilize the effects of the disease you may require osseous surgery.

Osseous surgery is an extensive surgery that requires surgery to both your gums and the surrounding bone.

Periodontal surgery also covers other treatment of the periodontium (bone) that holds your teeth such as crown lengthening where your tooth structure may not allow for a properly fitting crown to placed.
